Graphic design discussion for and by students.

Nick Burroughs

Hello, my name is Nick Burroughs and I am a 22 year old graphic design major, currently residing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I am currently enrolled in the Graphic Communications program at Iowa Western Community College, currently getting ready to start my fifth semester. Following this semester, I will have achieved my Associate Arts degree, and will then pursue my Bachelors in Fine Arts at Bellevue University, on the outskirts of Omaha, in Bellevue, Nebraska. I will then be starting at Bellevue this Spring, and hope to finish up and have my BFA in the Spring of 2010.

I have a very strong passion for design in general, and I have learned it will effect my life on a daily basis. Whether it’s evaluating kerning and lettering on signs as I walk around, or shaking my head at awful company logos, I can not escape it. Honestly, I would have it no other way and I’m very glad this obsession has come into my life.

I’m a huge music nerd as well, listening to artists from the sixties all through current generations. You won’t ever hear me listening to a radio station, however, I can sometimes be as elitist as they come in terms of music. For the past several years I’ve been on a love affair with instrumental and post rock style of bands, which makes up most of my listening.

If I had to currently pick one designer to call my favorite, it would be Stefan Sagmeister, and I hope to one day hear him speak in person.

If you’re looking for a great music magazine that also has gorgeous layouts, I highly recommend Death + Taxes.

  1. Hello, there..

This is a bit of a long-shot, but are you the same person who wrote a software title for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum?

I realise you’re probably very busy, but I’d appreciate it if you could reply to this query – even if it’s a single-word “Yes/No” :-)

    Cheers,
    Gerard

No Gerard, I am not. Sorry to disappoint.
